Then you will join your guide to get to the van and drive 1.5 hours(100km) to Bergama (Pergamum or Pergamon), once a great center of culture, survives as one of Turkey's finest archeological sites. In the Acropolis, above the modern town, are the remains of The Temple of Trajan; The Temple of Athena; The famous Pergamon's Library of 200,000 scrolls!; Zeus altar which is said to be 'the place where Satan has his throne' (Revelation 2:13); a steepest and impressive theatre, the Sanctuary of Demeter, a gymnasium laid out on three terraces and the Agora. Then visit The Asclepion - was perhaps the world's most famous ancient medical center, and the second most important site in Bergama, located to the southwest of the lower city was a sanctuary dedicated to the god of health: Asclepios. Red Courtyard or Red Basilica was built to worship to the Egyptian gods Serapis, Isis and Harpocrates when Egyptian religion was reaching into the Roman Empire. Later on the Byzantines preserved the sacred place, building the Church of St. John the Apostle. The building is still sacred for today there is a mosque now in one of its towers.
